It's that time of the month again! Time for me to share all of the things I've been loving this October.
It's been a busy month around here, including sickness of littles, some serious deep cleaning and purging of our kitchen (much needed, but so relieving), and finally finding a new, non-family nanny for the girls!
But all of that aside, I did find a chance to enjoy and indulge in some products, content, and media just to share with you all!
First off, I finally tried Mrs. Meyers cleaning products this month, and can I just say I'm a little bit obsessed (why did it take me so long?). So obsessed, that I considered throwing away all of my old cleaning supplies during my kitchen purge to be replaced with this brand (and can't promise I won't). I tried the hand soap, dish soap, and everyday cleaning spray all in the Apple Cider scent. It's been a very long time since a new product made me want to clean. absolutely. everything. But guys, I was wiping down my counters constantly just to use this spray. And bonus, the packaging is pretty enough to leave out on your counter or sink, so that if you live in a house where your cupboards are all childproofed (like us) you don't have to undo that damn latch every 20 minutes when you have to clean up a mess. And double bonus, my husband even loved the products and ASKED me to get more. Yes, ladies, you read that right, my husband asked me to purchase something. Let's just say, I had a second order on the way in less than a week, full of a variety of new scents to try. This one will be sticking around for a long time.
You might have seen on my Instagram that I recently received a new sock yarn. I ordered a new skein from Barnyard Knits in the Jumping in Leaves colorway, and I couldn't be happier about it. This yarn is so soft and squishy and the coloring is absolutely gorgeous, even more so in person. But the best part is, that they have so many more amazing colorways that I can't wait to order more from them. Plus my skein came with the cutest little fall leaf stitch marker as a complete surprise. I just love extra little packaging bonuses like that.
And while we are on the subject of new yarn, I also ordered four little skeins of the Drops Alpaca yarn for a sweet little bundle of friends I am making for the girls. While I usually try to support indie dyers and retailers in my crafting commerce as much as possible, this yarn does not disappoint. Especially for little girl projects, it's so plush and soft that it'll be perfect snuggled up against their skin. And so far it has been great to work with. I've had a little bit of splitting, but I'm also working on size 2 double points, so I can't complain at all for the circumstances. I chose this yarn because it was the recommendation for the pattern, and even then I was a little skeptical. But I'm so glad I went with it, because it's been working out absolutely perfectly, and the colors are so dreamy for fall time knitting!
While I listen to way too many podcasts, I don't have any new ones to share this month because I have been listening to all of the backlogs for Lore all. month. long. No joke. I know I mentioned this in my September Favorites already, but it's been so perfect gearing up for Halloween, that I've been hooked. Plus, if you like the podcast, Amazon Prime has a short series available now too.
I haven't had much time this month to sit down and watch many shows, but I have recently started a few.
We very recently started watching Atypical which is a Netflix original. It follows a teen that is on the autism spectrum, and how he and his family deal when he decides to get a girlfriend. I'm only currently a few episodes in but have been enjoying it a lot. It's a good family drama/comedy, and I'm genuinely interested in all the characters' stories.
And I've also been enjoying Orphan Black on Amazon video. This show is a crazy sci-fi drama in the best way. I can't even describe it without giving anything away, and there are constantly new secrets and twists! If you like shows that will keep you guessing and have a little bit of "what the - " factored in, you should definitely check this one out. Plus all 5 seasons are on Amazon which means the perfect binge-watching show for all your winter crafting.
I am constantly falling in love with so many new Instagrammers, way too many to share on here. But here are a few I have been particularly loving lately.
@handmade_habit had beautifully inspiring quilts, sewing, and dreamcatchers that are so sweet and lovely.
@woollenbison has the dreamiest knitwear feed from her cabin in the Rockies. It is the best inspiration for cozy winter knitting.
@seth.style has the prettiest minimalism feed from London that's so fresh and romantic.
Well, that's what I have been loving in October! What have you been loving lately? And are you ready for the holiday season already?
