October Favorites

It's that time of the month again! Time for me to share all of the things I've been loving this October.

It's been a busy month around here, including sickness of littles, some serious deep cleaning and purging of our kitchen (much needed, but so relieving), and finally finding a new, non-family nanny for the girls!

But all of that aside, I did find a chance to enjoy and indulge in some products, content, and media just to share with you all!

Quilty Box Subscription Service Review

I finally went through with something I’ve been wanting to do for months now.

I subscribed to Quilty Box.

And I’m so glad I did.

Quilty Box is a monthly subscription box containing fabrics and notions, as well as block and quilt patterns, and tips and techniques.

Evelyn's Triangle Quilt

I finally did it, I finally made my first quilt, start to finish!

I might have been a little in over my head starting my second quilt top (I have an unfinished hand quilting piece floating around out there) with a triangle piece pattern.

And yes, I might have rushed some parts of this process.

But I still love it, and so does Evelyn, so I think we'll be ok.

But I sure did learn a lot!

September Favorites

Where did September go, seriously?

This month flew by, and as I’m sure you noticed, I was pretty absent here.

Something about the change into fall always seems so busy to me!

Here are all the things I’ve been absolutely loving this month!

My First Sewn Garment

For the month of August I decided to try something new, along with my crafty sister-in-law.

We thought it would be fun to host a sew along for a Violette Field Threads dress pattern - the Pearl - since we had both planned on making the dress for our daughters.

DIY HELLO fence sign

Living in a state that only has true summer weather for about 3-4 months out of the year, we love to soak it up as much as possible.

Our favorite way is through outdoor living at home.

With two littles running around though (well, one running and one rolling) it's harder for us to spend long stretches of time out in the heat and sun.

We try not to let that stop us in preparing both our front porch, and our back yard for future summers spent out there.

I've almost got the front porch all decorated and set up just as I'd like, although it could still use a few small details.

While this project isn't necessarily "small" I still thought it'd be a fun one to make, and would help brighten up our front porch.

Thinking about Quality versus Quantity

Something that has been on my never ending, always growing to-do list is to venture into handmade garments for myself and the family.

At first, it was just the idea of a special handknit sweater, maybe a pair of socks, and a sewn shirt.

Only on occasion, and only extra special.

While this idea still holds the possibility of wonder and sentimentality, the idea has grown.

What if we each had a decent portion of our closet that was handmade?

Or the majority?

Or all of it?

A Little Blue Sweater

If you've followed me on social media over the last year, you've probably seen my painstakingly slow progress on this sweater for Evelyn.

It's finally done, I finished it about two months ago, and I love it!

And all this time working on it gave me ample opportunity to think about making for two girls, instead of just one.

DIY Toddler Coat Rack

I'm just doing a quick post today to show off Evelyn's new toddler coat rack.

This girl knows that when the weather is chilly, she can't go outside without a jacket.

And the girl loves to go outside!

So, I thought it'd be fun to make a cute little coat rack to hang her seasonal jackets and sweaters on.

Getting Creative on a Budget

The spring season always makes me super excited about home decor projects.

I don't know what it is about the fresh air and ample sunshine that makes me think "Man, I'd love to build some furniture, and cover these walls!".

How do I become inspired, when my creative abilities are stunted by budgets?

So I started to think about how I could spread my creative wings, without spending money.

DIY Headband and Hair Bow Holder

Ok ladies, raise your hand if you have a bit of a hair accessories problem.

*raises both hands*

Having two small girls at home, I'd say a "bit" of a problem is an understatement.

So, rather than reigning that shopping habit in, why not beautifully organize and display all those goodies in one go?

DIY String Art Tutorial

I'm sure that if you have ever been on Pinterest, you've seen some version of string art. So with Father's Day coming up, what better reason to make another one, and feature it here to show you all how I did it (and for me to make all the mistakes, so you don't have to!).

I Decided to Start a Blog

After years of discussing, and dreaming, I finally went through with starting a blog! And guess what. You showed up to read it.

So why did it take me so long to start one? And what made me finally decide to jump in? I'm glad you asked.
